This program involves the acquisition of mass transit vehicles and the installation of fuelling stations. The municipal government met representatives from the Dandong Transportation Bureau, Development and Reform Commission, Safety Supervision Bureau, Environmental Protection Bureau and other departments in order to make arrangements, China Daily reported last week.
“Public transport is the critical infrastructure in urban areas but is also a social factor concerning the people’s welfare. Promoting new energy vehicles and developing green transport is important for the popularization of energy saving and emission reduction, the development of low-carbon economy and the creation of a national environmental protection model city,” the city’s acting mayor Shi Guang stated.
The general manager of the Dandong Public Transport Corporation Jiang Yongchun explained that the local government purchased 100 LNG buses after negotiating with the SG Automotive Group. It is worth mentioning that Dandong China Resources Gas Group Co Ltd. will provide the natural gas required by the vehicles.
