The project aims to develop the competitiveness of short sea shipping, while being of benefit to nature and the environment, and requires an infrastructure of “filling stations”, legislation and standards.
DMA has already signed a contract with two Sweden’s technical consulting companies (ÅF and SSPA) that are to contribute to the work. This collaboration will lead to recommendations on how to develop a refuelling infrastructure. Suggestions will be directed at central stakeholders, such as ship-owners, ports and LNG suppliers.
It is worth mentioning that the project is co-financed by the European Union as a part of the Motorways of the Seas programme under the Trans-European Network of Transport.
