Chart Ferox, Chart Industries’ wholly owned subsidiary in the Czech Republic, has been awarded two contracts to supply fueling sites for liquefied natural gas powered city buses in Poland produced by the local bus manufacturer Solbus. Chart Ferox is responsible for the complete station design and manufacture, and will assist with the installation and commissioning of the stations.
The first LNG fueling station, to be located in the city of Olsztyn, utilizes a skid based design facilitating quick and easy installation with minimal civil works, yet still provides all the typical permanent fueling station features including a sophisticated control system with remote access and diagnostics.
The second, permanent LNG fueling station will be located in the Polish capital Warsaw and will be the first station in Europe dedicated to providing LNG as fuel for city buses, incorporating three LNG dispensers provided by Flow Instruments, a Chart company.
Both stations are fully automatic and represent a major milestone in the development of the LNG vehicle fueling infrastructure in Europe. Hans Lonsain, CEO of Chart Ferox, stated: “We are very happy Gazprom Germania selected us for these projects. This investment strengthens the growing LNG infrastructure in Poland and will boost the use of natural gas as a vehicle fuel providing a safe, clean-burning and economical alternative to diesel.”
“Natural gas is becoming increasingly important as a fuel for motor vehicles. With this deal, we are strengthening our commitment to the use of natural gas as an environmentally-friendly motor fuel”, said Vyacheslav Krupenkov, Senior Managing Director of Gazprom Germania GmbH.
