Recently, the first fleet of six LNG-powered double-decker tourist buses in Guangzhou downtown has caught the attention from overseas and domestic tourists. These clean-fuel vehicles are part of the Route 1 launched by Guangzhou Public Transportation Company. The trial path of 11.7 kilometers starts from the Pearl River Swimming Pool station and ends at Whampoa Ancient Village station (two-way operation).
It is expected that Guangzhou city will develop 500 LNG-powered vehicles by the end of this year, of which 12 are double-decker tourist buses. CNPC Shennan Oil Technology Development Co, Ltd, of which Kunlun Energy Company Limited is the holding company, will construct five more liquefied natural gas refueling stations to supply clean energy to these vehicles.
Compared with the conventional fuels, LNG-powered buses are estimated to reduce 93% of CO emission, 73% of CH emission, 39% of NO emission, 90% of SO2, 95% of PB, 96% of PM 2.5, and 28% of CO2, demonstrating the outstanding efficiency in environmental protection.
