“With this ceremony Repsol reaffirms its commitment to Peru in the long term; we are in a position to integrate the entire value chain of oil and gas and this is another step forward of our commitment to the country,” remarked Repsol Peru CEO Víctor Peón, as reported by Andina news agency. The executive said the feasibility study will take five months to determine if both companies involved may carry out the project of LNG supply throughout the south.
On the other hand, the president of the Board of Petroperú Humberto Campodonico said that these examinations would identify the demand and the infrastructure for fueling distribution, and even for its application in vehicles (CNG). According to his statement, the implementation of mobile gas pipeline system will take about a year, and he added that its cost is not so high.
This initiative aims to make a demand for natural gas in the southern region of the country as a step towards the construction of the “Andino del Sur” gas pipeline that will transport the fuel directly from Camisea through a conventional distribution network.
