According to the local newspaper La Voz de Galicia, the operation performed by Reganosa opens new possibilities not only for plants of this type, but also for port infrastructure and Galician shipyards, such as Navantia, as all can win new orders in this segment.
“In Ferrol we have everything to be a major player in this market,” said Rogelio Diaz Ibarra, Reganosa project manager, who stressed the strategic positioning of Galicia as a gateway from the Atlantic to Europe. For him, it will be strengthened by the fact that the vessel has been manufactured in Turkey, travels to Norway and chose Vigo as refueling point.
The tug, the first in the world to use LNG for its engines, refueled the volume of a tank and a half of natural gas, equivalent to 45 cubic meters. “Even though this is a single event, it is the beginning of something that will not stop growing and Reganosa will be able to service the entire northwest of the peninsula,” said Diaz Ibarra.
