As published by Diario de Tarragona, 500,000 euros have been invested to equip the station. HAM reports that the refueling point, located in a Bionet installation, is the largest LNG filling facility, in connection with the supply and consumption of this fuel, across the continent; it is estimated that it serves a fleet of 70 heavy-duty vehicles. Moreover, 14 trucks already get LNG at this station.
Liquefied natural gas, which is carried by boat to the Port of Tarragona, is mainly used to power heavy transport vehicles. Beyond the savings this fuel system offers, “it extends vehicle lifespan as it stops emitting black particles from combustion,” said Jaume Suriol, Project Manager of HAM.
It is important to mention that, in 2009, the company opened the nation’s first public CNG-LNG station on the road in the municipality of Abrea. Currently, the firm has six additional refueling points already operational on major roads throughout Spain.
